Frequently Asked Questions

1.) What is Bar Mitzvah Club?

BMC is a bi-weekly club for Jewish boys in 6th and 7th Grades.

2.) What is BMC's goal?

BMC is to help boys going through this special time connect with other Jewish boys throughout Rochester and explore Jewish ideas and Mitzvot in a fun hands-on way.
This is not to train the boys with their Torah reading, but rather to explore and enjoy this time of their life in a fun and meaningful way.

3.) What type of boys attend?

Jewish boys from across the spectrum of Jewish practice: boys from orthodox, reform, conservative, unaffiliated, Israeli homes, etc. The boys aren't required to have a certain amount of Jewish knowledge - it is open to beginners and more advance alike.

4.) What happens at a BMC club meetup?

We are using a fantastic curriculum called BAM Tribe. We will explore a big Jewish idea/value with hands-on activities, team games, some snacks & drinks and there will be a take-home mission!

5.) Where is it located?

It will take place at Chabad of Pittsford or at different homes of members of the club pending on the week (default location is Chabad Pittsford unless you are emailed differently)

6.) When does it take place?

Bi-Weekly Mondays 7:15-8:30pm (Click here to see calendar for dates)

7.) Are there scholarships available?

Yes, we want every boy who wants to be able to participate. Choose that on form.

8.) If I have any questions- who do I contact?
BMC Leader Rabbi Yitzi Hein 585-286-6147 or [email protected]
