Jewish Week Think (10/03/2025)

Dear Friends,

As we step into Shabbat after Yom Kippur, one message keeps echoing in my mind — something I shared during the services:
There are two zones in life — our zone and G-d’s zone.

Our zone is effort. Showing up. Doing our best with the gifts, time, and circumstances we’ve been given.
G-d’s zone is outcome. The results, the timing, the success — all in G-D's hands.

When we stay focused on our zone and trust G-d to handle His, life becomes lighter and more peaceful. We can give our all without the weight of worry.

This week’s Torah portion, Haazinu, captures that balance beautifully.

Moshe declares:
“The Rock—His work is perfect, for all His ways are justice; a faithful G-d, without wrong, righteous and upright is He.” (Deuteronomy 32:4)

It’s a verse about trust. We do our work — but we recognize that G-d’s “work is perfect.” We plant, but G-d makes things grow. We try, but G-d blesses the results. That’s the great Divine partnership of a Jewish life.

One of our community members, Mike Rosenhouse, came up with a wonderful way of expressing this spirit — perhaps a new tagline for Chabad of Pittsford: “Tap Your Soul-er Energy.”

Because that’s what it’s all about — living from the inside out.

When we tap into our Soul-er Energy — the divine spark within us — we stop running on stress, and start running on purpose.

So as we enter this Shabbat between Yom Kippur and Sukkot, let’s commit to living in our zone, trusting G-d in His zone, and keeping that Soul-er Energy flowing strong.

Wishing you a peaceful, re-energizing Shabbat filled with clarity, trust, and light,

Rabbi Yitzi & Rishi Hein
