Bar & Bat Mitzvah is the gateway to living a full and proud Jewish life. It is so important that our young men and women have a deep knowledge of Judaism, and the space to question, wrestle with, and take ownership of their Judaism. As the students approach the age of B Mitzvah (6th & 7th grade), we provide a course covering the meaning behind the various rituals and customs connected to this life cycle event. Students learn the 13 principles of faith, great Jewish leaders, special Mitzvot, and much more. The course has approx 15 parts, and is designed to make the students think, allowing room for questions and discussions. The best learning happens during spontaneous moments. Classes are once a week from November through March. Days and times are based on the group’s needs.
Are you all caught up with the theme, the clothing and the party favors, but haven’t thought too much about the meaning? Join the Bat Mitzvah club and find out. At BMC, we challenge our perceptions about Judaism and feminism. Debating and discussing our history and values gives us space to make meaning and take ownership of our identities as young Jewish women, and creative expression and community outreach helps us connect our values to our everyday real lives. Share your interests, goals, hopes and dreams. A handcrafted scrapbook will curate your thoughts and ideas as we explore and have fun together. Express yourself! |
